Blog Post #5 - For the Sake of Argument

Why do you smoke?

Wherever we go in Korea, we can easily see many people smoke.  In the literatures, the cigarettes have been influenced since 1492, when Christopher Columbus found The New World, in Europe and the cultivation of it started in 1530's by Spanaish.  All over the world, there are so many people smoke.  Therefore, they know that smoking has no benefits for their health but they do not know how affect on them exactly.  They should know.
Smoking is one of the reasons cause cancers in several parts of body.  It increases the risk of cancers in mouth, throat, lung, stomach, liver and so on.  If someone smoke, it make the rate of getting the cancer over fifty out of one hundred.  Every year about five-million-people die because of smoking.  Another serious problem is the Second-hand Smoking.  Just staying next to a person who is smoking, it is very bad for our health also.  WHO(World Health Organization) announced that over six-hundred-thousand-people die every year by the Second-hand Smoking.  What did the non-smokers do wrong?  Why they should get injured by the smokers?  It is really unfair and the smokers have to care about the others much more seriously.  We need to let them know that they can kill others.  Smoking can make the smokers addicts.  The cigarettes contain nicotine and heroin which are kinds of drugs.  It is not that strong as much as taking drugs.  Even so, it is addictive that is why people cannot stop smoking their wills.  Some people say that smoking can reduce stress and stress is the worst thing for being health.  Then it has also benefits for not getting illness or cancers.  However, there are so many ways to make stress less, instead smoking.  Smoking cause other diseases except that cancer, such as dermatitis and effects on skin or aging.
Do you smoke simply because you think that smoking is helpful for reducing stress and getting momentary pleasure?  Unfortunately, there are a lot more impacts on losing.  If you are a smoker, please think about yourself and someone next to you.  Thus, why do not you try to stop smoking right away for living longer and happier.  You only live yourlife once, not twice or more.

Blog Post #4 - A Short Personal Story

The pitfall of excessive pride

Since my childhood, I have been the most active person in my family.  My parents have let me do whatever I want.  When I was younger, I took swimming, Taekwondo and ballet lessons.  Also I have been an athlete for four years.  Although I was a little young girl, I liked to challenge many new things.  When I achieved success, I felt rewarded.  It made me try to do other things.  And I always thought that If I want to do something, I should try it.  Then through the success, I felt very happy and as owned the world.  However, when I was seven years old, I realized that having too much confidence can cause the damage to myself.
In the ealry 1990s, I went on a summer vacation to the river with my family and other families of my father's friends'.  When I was seven years old, I was a swimmer and thought I was very good at swimming then I dived into the water alone.  None cared me because other parents were busy to care their kids and also my parents had to take care my younger bother, he was a two year-old baby.  At first I swam close to my parents but as time goes on I wanted to swim in deeper water.  Therefore, I went into the gradually deeper water and enjoyed the wild waves.  Suddenly I was swapt away from the place where my family were.  I lost my sandals, a cap and swimming glasses.  I screamed "Help me! Save me!".  There was no one could hear me, I do not know why but I could not see anyone who could help me.  Unexpectedly, I was caught between small rocks. Luckily I was holding a tube which was big enough that is why I was able to be caught.  When I got jammed in the rocks I was getting exhausted, at that time I saw a man.  I yelled my head off "Save me! Help me! Anyone!".  Finally, the man saw me and he dived into the water and saved me!  I survived by his help.  After he saved my life he said that "I thought you were my daughter."  Yes, he misunderstood me to his daughter.  It did not matter for me at all, I just got out of the water.  When he brought me to the ground, many people gathered and my parents also came to me and they said "Thank you very much. You saved my daughter's life" to him.  I do not remember exactly what I said to him and how I thanked to him.
In the evening of the day, I calmed myself down and stayed at the accommodation until the next day.  Except me, everyone enjoyed their summer vacation well.  From the accident, I learned that everytime I need to be careful I think I am confident in my ability though.  Since the accident happend, I have not been afraid the water at all.  I could have been disappeared or even worse I could have died though.  It is a bit strange!

Blog Post #3 - Describe a Setting

A Homestay House

I am going to let you know the best house which made me feel cozy in abroad.  It is located in Brisbane in Australia.  It is a fantastic big old white wooden house.  It has been there over one hundred years though.  There are two floors, seven gorgeous rooms, four clean bathrooms, two huge living rooms and a big yard with seven vibrant chickens.  When I went to the house I felt that I am in my warm house, It was my first time sleeping there though.  I felt my parents' warm heart and my sister's and brother's strong family love through the host family.  Almost every sunday, we had a yummy, unique and fresh pizza and also a Party in the house.  Actually there is a fire pot for baking pizza, it is earthen and made by the host father for the mother's birthday.  It is lovely present, is not it?  The host mother did not work, so she cooked every tasty and healthy food for us.  They supplied the fresh vegetables and eggs they raise by themselves.  Even I stayed in western country I did not gain weight.  I always miss them who are charming and sweet.  Still I contact them often, It has already passed about three years though.  I hope someday in the near future to meet them again.
